Our Blog

Don't know about you, but being a member ofThe Wanted really can't be all that much fun. Imagine sitting down to enjoy a delicious tub of Joe Delucci's chocolate gelato swirled with minty chokamenta and creamy vanilla gelato made with Madagascan vanilla pods when a crowd of screaming girls starts yelling in your earhole! Its enough to make your eyes water. You'll be pleased to know we did offer them alternative employment - making deliciously creamy Joe Delucci's gelato at Gelato manor which will surely offer them a well earned respite from all that shouting. We are expecting their call any day now!

Now, this is interesting, so pay attention:

Gelato is the Italian word for ice cream. Loosely translated, gelato
means frozen - however, gelato is made in an entirely different way
to the ice cream you might normally buy.

For a start normal ice cream is made with lots of cream (obviously!)
This means it’s got lots of fat in it, on average over 16% (and
sometimes up to 30%, which in case you didn’t know isn’t very
good for you). But don’t worry Joe Delucci’s tasty gelato on
average only contains between 0% & 12% fat! Which means
it’s healthier - so you can have more of it.

Now you might ask ‘how is this possible?’
Well it’s quite simple really. Gelato is made with milk or water and sometimes with just a dash of cream.

So why does it taste so creamy then?
Ah! This is because we don’t add lots of air when we make it, and this makes gelato thicker and creamier tasting. Most other ice creams have loads and loads of air pumped into them. So why would you want to pay for fresh air?
